The Les Amis De l’ABC are a group of idealist student revolutionaries, dedicated to the brighter future of France. All have very distinct personalities. Enjolras, the leader, is handsome and charming, but very chaste and severe. He represents and holds together the group. Combeferre, an intellectual, represents the philosophy of the revolution. Courfeyrac is compared to a Tholomyes, but is righteous and honorable. Jean Prouvaire timid, quiet, and sensitive, with an interest in poetry. Joly is a medical student and a hypochondriac, but the happiest. Lesgle, bald at twenty five, is very unlucky but good humored. Feuilly, an orphaned fan maker, has a particular interest for Poland, and has adopted the people. Bahorel is a peasant studying law with the motto “Never a Lawyer”. Grantaire is a skeptic and a drunk who only believes in Enjolras.  My personal favorite is Enjolras, with his deep passion for revolution. He abhors death, but sees it as necessary. He is not interested in anything not related to the Republic, and takes no interest in love. He sees no use for flowers except to hide a gun. When he realizes the revolution is going to fail, he goes down fighting, staying completely loyal to the cause.
